Corrugated cardboard history
Jul 20, 2018

In 1856, the British Edward Healy and the Edward Allen brothers invented the corrugated corrugated on paper, used as a lining for the hat to breathe and absorb sweat. In 1871, American Albert Jones invented a single-faced corrugated cardboard for packaging glass shades and similar fragile items, and obtained the first patent in the United States. By the end of the 19th century, the United States began to study the use of corrugated cardboard to make packaging transport boxes.

In 1920, double corrugated cardboard was introduced, and its use expanded rapidly. During the First World War, corrugated boxes accounted for only 20% of the shipping packaging. But during the Second World War, corrugated boxes accounted for 80% of transportation packaging. Corrugated boxes have become the most widely used packaging container in modern commerce and trade, and are one of the most important packaging formats used in countries around the world.
